Izak Johannes Burger
Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of the EVRAZ Highveld Steel and Vanadium Limited Board.
Johan has extensive background in steel industry. Before joining EVRAZ Johan worked as CEO at GBP Consulting, a consulting firm to a number of South African and international steel making, foundry and rolling mill equipment manufacture companies.
Johan started his career at Anglo Gold, Western Deep Levels Mine in 1982 as Apprentice Electrician and grew to become an Engineer. He left Anglo Gold to join Scaw Metals Group. During his 22 years with Scaw Metals Group he held key positions in operations management, such as Head of Rolled Products, Cast Products and Scrap Processing Divisions, Group Engineering Manager, Divisional Manager (Rolling Mills).
Johan has a National Diploma in Engineering from the Vaal University of Technology. He graduated from the University of Pretoria with Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering. Johan also obtained Government Certificate of Competency (GCC mines and works).
